Characteristics

Terrestrial herb, geophyte with root tubers, up to 0.24 m high. Scape minutely and thinly hairy. Leaves 2, flat on ground, up to 30 mm wide, glabrous, not withering before flowering. Inflorescence a lax, thinly hairy raceme; flowers secund, many, sepals green, petals and lip white. Sepals subequal, connivent; dorsal sepal 2-3 mm long. Petals lanceolate, 5-6 mm long. Lip up to 10 mm long, 5-lobed; spur 2-4 mm long, strongly curved. Flowering time June-Sept.

Plants erect, scape without bracts, glabrous, 70-240 mm high; leaves glabrous, thick-fleshy. Flowers: Sepals glabrous, 1.5-3.5 x 0.5-1.5 mm. Petals entire, broadly linear and membranous, adªnate to the lip at the base, 3-6.5 x 0.5-1.5 mm, pure white or flushed purple at the base. Lip 5-lobed, membranous, lobes more or less linear, 3.5-9 x 0.5-1.5 mm, pure white or with pale purple lines and throat; spur narrow, circinnate, 1.5-5.5 mm long.
