Characteristics

Shrub to 0.6 m (–0.8) tall; indumentum brown to grey, the hairs appressed or spreading. Leaves: stipules 3–4.5 mm long; petiole 0.5–3.5 mm long; lamina elliptic, ovate or lanceolate, 1.5–8 cm long, 8–40 mm wide, margins lobed, apex of lobes pungent (spiny-toothed), upper surface ± smooth, glabrous, lower surface paler, glabrous. Inflorescences of 2–6 flowers, sessile or peduncle to 1.5 mm long; pedicel 2–5 mm long, bract at or near base; bract and bracteoles narrow-lanceolate 3–3.5 mm long. Calyx 5–6 mm long, tube 2–2.5 mm long, upper lip 5–7 mm wide. Standard 10.4–14.0 mm long, flare white, wing 4–4.5 mm wide, vexillary staminal filament free. Pod glabrous, stipe 2–3 mm long. Aril of seed c. 2.5–3.5 mm long including a distal extension, hilum 1–1.5 mm long.
