Characteristics

Shrub or tree to 5 m tall; indumentum yellow-brown, the hairs appressed. Leaves estipulate; petiole 2–5 mm long; lamina narrow-elliptic, lanceolate or oblanceolate, (0.5–) 1.5–5 cm long, (3–) 5–20 mm wide, margin recurved, upper surface ± smooth, glabrous or with appressed hairs medially, lower surface obscured by appressed hairs. Inflorescences of 2 or 3 flowers, sessile or peduncle to 4 mm long; pedicel 3–10 mm long, bract at base; bract and bracteoles narrow-oblong, 0.5–1 mm long. Calyx 3.5–4.5 mm long, tube 3–3.5 mm long, upper lip 3–4 mm wide. Standard 7–10 mm long, flare white, wing c. 3 mm wide. Pod glabrous, stipe 3–5 mm long. Seed compressed, aril circular, less than 1 mm diam., hilum c. 0.5 mm long.

Environment

A tropical plant. It grows on stony or rocky sites. It suits tropical and subtropical regions. It needs well drained soils and slight shade. In tropical Queensland it grows from sea level to 900 m altitude.
