Shrub to 1 m tall; indumentum grey, the hairs appressed to divergent. Leaves: stipules to 2.5 mm long; petiole 0.7–1.5 mm long; lamina lorate-elliptic, lanceolate or linear, 1.2–4.2 cm long, 1.5–7.5 mm wide, margin strongly revolute, upper surface with veins nearer margins slightly raised, glabrous or with scattered hairs. Inflorescences of 1–3 flowers, sessile or short-pedunculate; pedicel 4–11 mm long, bract inserted at base, falling early; bract and bracteoles subulate, 1.2–3 mm long. Calyx 4.4–7.5 mm long, tube 2.5–4 mm long, upper lip 6–9 mm wide. Standard 14–17 mm long, flare white, wings 5–7 mm wide. Pod glabrous, stipe c. 5 mm long. Aril of seed c. 1 mm long, not expanded distally, hilum c. 0.5 mm long.
Grows in sand in low heath, scrub or shrubland in the northern part of its range; southern populations grow in sand, in open woodland, also peaty sand in swampy inter-dune heath.
