Flowers with sepals suborbicular, imbricate, united at base; petals free, thick-membranaceous, linear or oblong; stamens 20, in 2 alternating lengths, glabrous, the anthers ovate-lanceolate or oblong, attached near base, the thecae 2, unilocular, basal, the connective thick, acute at apex; disc a dentate ring or composed of more or less free scales; carpels opposite sepals, ovary 5-locular, the cells uniovulate, the style short, the stigma capitate-lobate. Fruit a medium-sized or small drupe, ellipsoid or subglobose, smooth, the endocarp woody, usually with resinous cavities, 5 foramina around apex and 5 oblong germinal valves on upper half; seeds oblong, usually 1-2 per fruit.
