Characteristics

Tree 20-25 m; branches spreading, hanging, innovations ferrugineous-pubescent. Leaves oblong or elliptic-oblong, ± abruptly and obtusely sub-falcate-acuminate, cuneate at the base, subcoriaceous, entire, rather shining, 8.5-12.5 by 3½-5½ cm; nerves arcuate, as the veins slightly but distinctly prominent. ♂ Inflorescence sub-cymose, ferrugineous-tomentose, 1-1.5 cm peduncled, 3-6-branched. Pedicels 8 mm. Sepals ovate, ferrugineous-pubescent outside, c. 3.5 by 1.5-2 mm. Petals ovate-rounded, pale green, glabrous, membranous; scales fleshy, ciliate, nearly as large as the petals. Filaments short, nearly conical, 1.5 mm; anthers ovate-cordate, 2 mm. ♀ Flowers solitary or in twos. Pedicels shorter, but sepals and petals similar as in the ♂ flowers. Ovary subcylindrical, glossy ferrugineous-tomentose. Fruit narrow-obovoid or cylindrical, mamillate at the apex, contracted at the base, pale green when fresh, dark brown when dry, glabrescent, 7.5-1.5 by 2.5 cm; peduncle thick, c. 2.5 cm. Seeds few, c. 2½ cm long.
