Weak erect annual herb 7.5–30 cm. tall; stems ± compressed at the base, almost winged in the dry state, decumbent below in some stouter specimens and rooting at the nodes, with a few minute hairs on very young parts.
Leaves 0.1–4.5 x 0.1–0.9 cm., lanceolate or elliptic to linear-oblong, bluntly acute at the apex, cuneate at the base, pale green, glabrous; petiole obsolete or very short.
Calyx micropuberulous; tube 1.2 mm. long; lobes 3.5–5 x 0.15 x 1.5 mm. ovate-lanceolate, minutely puberulous.
Corolla deep blue, white at base, tube 0.8–1.3 mm. long; lobes 2–2.5 x 1.3 mm. oblong-elliptic.
Ovary 1.5 mm. long, the style and stigmas together 1 mm. long.
Cymes terminal, few to many-flowered; pedicels 2–4 mm. long.
Anthers apiculate 0.5–0.8 mm. long; filaments 1 mm. long.
Fruit 3.5 x 2.5 mm., cylindrical-ellipsoid.
