Leaf-blades ovate or less often elliptic, 7–12 cm. long, 2.5–12 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, cordate or less often rounded to cuneate (often slightly unequally so) at the base, glabrous above, almost so beneath or with pubescence bordering the venation, particularly the base of the midnerve; petiole 0.5–3.2 cm. long, pubescent; stipules almost round to ovate-triangular, 4–8 mm. long, 4–4.5 mm. wide, the margins ciliate and probably slightly lacerate, deeply bifid or almost entire, at length deciduous.. Flowers sub-sessile in small terminal clusters ± 1 cm. wide; involucre absent; bracts linear, 3–6.5 mm. long. Heterostyly less marked, the anthers and style and stigmas included in both long-and short-styled forms.. Calyx-tube veined, 1–2 mm. long..
