Characteristics

Single stemmed shrub to 2 m, sparsely branched in upper half; branches densely leafy above, densely covered in short, white stellate hairs, becoming glabrous below. Leaves suberect, often becoming slightly larger and more dense towards synflorescence, lanceolate, 4-20 x 2-3 mm, sparsely felted adaxially and densely felted abaxially, acute, margins revolute, coriaceous, greenish-gold. Capitula aggregated into congested, simple corymbs, peduncles ± obscured; synflorescence 10-28 mm diam., peduncle bracts narrowly ovate to lanceolate, leaflike, 4-10 mm. Involucre narrowly obconical, spreading apically, 6-12 mm long, involucral bracts 6 to 8, subequal, narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate, 6-7 x 0.5-1.0 mm, felted, with scarious margins, brownish. Florets 4 to 6. Pappus of basally united, lanceolate scales. Cypselas narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate, 2-3 x 0.7-1.0 mm, ribs glabrous.
