Pubescent throughout; stems 3–8 dm, simple or virgately branched above; lvs numerous, erect, lanceolate to ovate, 5–15 mm, gradually reduced upwards; sep ciliate; pet 5–7 mm; stamens 20–40; styles 3(4), 1.5–2 mm; otherwise much like no. 20 [Hypericum denticulatum Walter]; 2n=12. Bogs and wet soil on the coastal plain; se. Va. to Fla. and La. June–Sept.
