Characteristics

Perennial, silvery-white, slender geophyte, 70-100 mm high; rhizome small, deep seated, oblong. Leaves 4-7, clasping at base to form a slender false stem wrapped in membranous brown tunic, arranged loosely in 3 ranks; linear, 50-200 x 3-6 mm, drying grey-white; sparsely to densely hairy, mainly on lower surface; hairs closely pressed, long and silky, sericeous, white or yellow-brown. Flowers 1-5, yellow, sometimes red-striped; tepals 6-10 x 2-3 mm; anther apex split; ovary 3-4 mm long; style shorter than stigma. Flowering time Aug.-Mar.
