Leaves 4–14, erect, sessile, up to c. 45 cm × 1.5–12 mm, linear, glabrous or thinly pilose mostly on the margins and midrib abaxially; pseudostem 0–6 cm long.

Seeds dark brown, 0.8–1.2 mm in diameter, globose; testa papillose, each papilla with a minutely wrinkled cuticle and 3–4 longitudinal narrow wing-like ribs.
Rhizome vertical, 2–4.5 cm long, 1.5–3 cm in diameter, ± cylindrical, equatorially ringed by stout contractile roots.
Perianth 18–31 mm in diameter when open; tepals up to c. 12 × 3–4 mm, narrowly elliptic, thinly pilose abaxially.
Flowers 1(4); pedicels short, 2–6 mm long, appressed-pilose; bracts 5–15 mm long, filiform to linear-lanceolate.
Capsule 5–10 × 4–5 mm, excluding the persistent perianth, turbinate-cylindric, thinly pilose.
Indumentum hairs 2-armed, the arms fine, appressed, ± unequal.
Scapes 1–6, slender, up to 21 cm long, appressed-pilose.
Filaments 1.3–4 mm long; thecae 2.6–3.2 mm long.
Style 0.5–1.6 mm long; stigma 1.5–2.3 mm long.
