Characteristics

Perennial herb, 70-100 mm high; slender, growing singly. Rhizome oblong, 10-20 x 7-15 mm. Leaves 4-6, well developed at flowering; blade linear, subterete, thick, 50-250 x 2-4 mm; strongly ribbed; with an even distribution of biramous hairs on blade, margins and midrib outlined by a thickened band of stellate hairs; hairs yellow or white. Flowers: inflorescence 1 or 2 per plant, 2-or 3-flowered, racemose; appearing with leaves, scape wiry, covered with short, yellow hairs in upper part; pedicels 5-10 mm long; filaments subulate; perianth segments 7-9 x 2-4 mm, yellow, ovate-elliptic; Oct.-Dec. Fruit a capsule, ± 3 x 2.5 mm, opening by a circular slit.
