Characteristics

Plants annual, 60-80 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, robust, many branched from base. Leaves alternate; petiole 1-2 cm; leaf blade pale green abaxially, green adaxially, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 4-8 × 1.5-3 cm, rigid, with 1 or 2 stipitate glands at basal margin, lateral veins 6-8 pairs, base rounded or cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin crenate or crenate-serrate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 2-flowered; peduncles 2-3 cm. Pedicels 1-1.5 cm, bracteate at base (but appearing as if at middle); bracts ovate, apex acuminate. Flowers pink-purple, 3-5 cm. Lateral sepals 2, 6-7 mm, rigid, base cordate, apex acute. Lower sepal navicular, gradually narrowed into an incurved, 2-denticulate spur ca. as long as limb; mouth oblique, 1-1.2 cm, tip obtuse. Upper petal orbicular, ca. 1.4 cm in diam., base cordate, apex retuse, hooked, abaxial midvein rostellate or shortly carinate at middle; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 2 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular, ca. 5 mm in diam., leathery; distal lobes dolabriform, larger, apically retuse; auricle inflexed, small. Filaments broadly linear, short; anthers ovoid, apex acute. Ovary erect, fusiform. Capsule not seen. Fl. and fr. unknown.
