Plants subglabrous, or ± hairy above. Stem erect; branchlets spreading, slender. Leaves often crowded at apices of stem and branches, alternate, lower leaves petiolate, upper leaves sessile; petiole 1.7-2 cm; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, dark green adaxially, obovate-oblong or ovate-oblong, (10-)15-20 × (3.5-)4-5 cm, thinly membranous, abaxially glabrous, adaxially sparsely adpressed strigose, lateral veins 7 or 8 pairs, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin crenate-serrate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences 2-or 3-flowered; peduncles fibrous, 3-4 cm, puberulent. Pedicels 2-3 cm, bracteate at base or middle; bracts persistent, linear-lanceolate, 3-5 mm. Flowers ca. 2 cm wide. Lateral sepals 2, ovate, 9-11 mm, inequilateral, midvein apically stout cuspidate. Lower sepal funnelform, ca. 1.5 cm deep, base gradually narrowed into a slender spur 0.5-1 cm; mouth oblique, ca. 1.5 cm, tip acute. Upper petal orbicular, 1-1.1 cm in diam., abaxial midvein thickened, cristate at middle; lateral united petals not seen. Filaments short, broad; anthers small, apex obtuse. Ovary erect, fusiform. Capsule shortly stipitate, fusiform, cylindric, ca. 2 cm. Seeds few, suborbicular, ?compressed, ca. 3 mm, 4-5 mm wide, deeply furrowed on one side. Fl. Jul-Sep.
