Characteristics

Plants annual, 30-50 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, simple. Leaves alternate; petiole 0.5-2 cm; leaf blade ovate-oblong, 6-11 × 2.5-3.5 cm, setose between marginal teeth, lateral veins 5-7 pairs, base cuneate, margin coarsely crenate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 2-5-flowered; peduncles 4-11 cm. Pedicels 1-2.5 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous. Flowers pinkish, 2-3.5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 4; outer 2: obliquely ovate, 0.9-1.1 × ca. 0.4 cm, conspicuously veined, apex acute; inner 2: linear-lanceolate, 1-1.2 cm, hyaline, apex recurved. Lower sepal broadly funnelform, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur 1.5-1.8 cm; mouth vertical, ca. 2 cm, tip acute. Upper petal elliptic or ovate, 1-1.2 cm × 7-8 mm, base rounded, abaxial midvein thickened, narrowly carinate; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 2.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes obliquely ovate, apex acute; distal lobes oblong, apex obtuse; auricle inflexed, suborbicular. Filaments linear; anthers small, obtuse. Ovary erect, fusiform. Capsule clavate, swollen at upper part. Fl. Sep-Oct.
