Erect glabrous perennial with stems arising from a crown which surmounts a fleshy tuberous rootstock, the tubers long-fusiform and ± 1–1.5 cm. in diameter; stems moderately branched or occasionally unbranched, fleshy, up to 70 cm. tall.. Leaves spirally arranged, crowded towards the tops of the stems; petiole 0.8–6.2 cm. long, slender, with several ± 1–2.5 cm. long linear-glands (extra-floral nectaries) clustered towards the top; lamina broadly ovate or ovate rhombic, occasionally suborbicular, 3.3–9.1 cm. long, 2.8–6.7 cm. broad; lateral veins (4–)5–7 pairs; margin shallowly crenate-serrate, with a single narrow tooth bent under against, and on each side of, and towards the base of the lamina.. Inflorescence an axillary 2–5-flowered subumbellate raceme borne towards the stem tops; flowers apricot-red with a small purplish blotch towards the base of the lower petal of each lateral united pair.. Peduncle 3.1–5 cm. long, slender, erect or ascending.. Bracts linear-lanceolate, 3–4 mm. long.. Pedicels 1.3–2.2 cm. long, slender, ascending in flower but deflexed in fruit..
