Characteristics

Plants robust, ca. 100 cm tall. Stem terete, branched, glabrous. Leaves alternate; petiole to 5 cm; leaf blade ovate-lanceolate, 6-13 × 2-4 cm, with 2 stipitate basal glands, glabrous, lateral veins 7-9 pairs, base cuneate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences axillary or subterminal, racemose, 5-10-flowered; peduncles spreading, 7-10(-15) cm. Pedicels 1.5-2 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, green, ovate-lanceolate, apex mucronulate to cuspidate, glandular. Flowers yellow, ca. 3.5 cm deep; buds ovoid. Lateral sepals 2, greenish, falcate, ca. 2 mm, apex long aristate. Lower sepal constricted into an involute-incurved spur; tip green, long cornute. Upper petal orange, slightly spurred; lateral united petals clawed; basal lobes red spotted, narrowly oblong; distal lobes oblong-dolabriform. Capsule clavate. Fl. Aug.
