Plants annual, 30-50 cm tall. Stem erect, or base ascending, green, often black spotted in lower part, succulent, simple or sometimes branched, nodes swollen in lower part, with many fibrous roots. Leaves alternate or crowded in upper part of stem; petiole 1.5-2.5 cm; leaf blade pale green abaxially, green adaxially, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, leathery, abaxially glabrous, adaxially adpressed-puberulent, lateral veins 7-9 pairs, curved, prominent abaxially, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, without glands, margin coarsely crenate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in middle and upper leaf axils, divaricately 2-flowered; peduncles longer than petioles, 3-5 cm. Pedicels 1-2 cm, ± puberulent, bracteate above middle; bracts persistent, setose, 3-5 mm, membranous. Flowers pink, 0.8-1.2 cm. Lateral sepals 2, subovate, 3-5 × 2-3 mm, subfalcate, abaxial midvein thickened, apex long mucronulate. Lower sepal funnelform, limb 4-6 mm deep, gradually narrowed into an erect spur; spur ca. 1.8 cm, slender; mouth vertical, tip acute. Upper petal cucullate, orbicular, ca. 5 mm, abaxial midvein thickened, apically cristate; lateral united petals not clawed, 0.8-1 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes small; distal lobes clawed, lunar, apex obtuse; auricle narrow. Filaments linear; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary ovoid-rounded. Capsule fusiform, 1.5-2.5 cm. Seeds few, brown, densely tuberculate. Fl. Jun-Aug, fr. Sep.
