Tuberous rooted perennial 1-2 m tall, glabrous; stems upright, moderately branched, fleshy. Leaves spirally arranged, the petiole 1-4.5(-8) cm long; lamina 10-24 x 4.5-11 cm, oblong to oblong-elliptical, the apex acute or sub-obtuse, the base ± cuneate or sub-rounded; lateral veins 9-11 pairs; margin crenate-dentate. Inflorescence a stout 6-12(-15) flowered raceme, more or less erect; flowers pink. Peduncle 17-39 cm long, rather slender. Bracts 5-8 mm long, linear-lanceolate, acute. Pedicels 2-3.4 cm long, slender. Lateral sepals 4, the upper pair c. 7 mm long, linear-lanceolate, acute, the lower pair c. 6 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, acute. Lower sepal 15-17 mm long, bucciniform, gradually tapering into a curved spur, 32-40 mm in length overall, filiform in the distal third, the tip of the spur slightly swollen. Dorsal petal c. 8 x 6 mm, cucullate, apically produced into a short, rather blunt, point. Lateral united petals 27-28 mm long; upper petal of each pair 7 x 6 mm, suborbicular, entire; lower petal 17 x 13 mm, suborbicular, distally with a slight emargination along the inner margin. Ovary glabrous. Fruit unknown.
