Characteristics

Plants annual, 20-30 cm tall, glabrous. Stem robust, succulent, with many fibrous roots, branched in upper part. Leaves alternate; petiole 1-2 cm; leaf blade ovate, 4-6 × 2.5-3 cm, rigid, with 2 small glands on both sides of base, setose between teeth, lateral veins 5 or 6 pairs, inconspicuous, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin shallowly crenate, apex acute or acuminate. Inflorescences axillary, racemose, 3-6-flowered; peduncles distinctly overtopping leaves, slender. Pedicels 1-1.5 cm, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, ovate-lanceolate, 2-3 mm. Flowers yellow, ca. 1 cm wide. Lateral sepals 2, narrowly ovate or oblong, rarely subovate, 3-4 mm, inequilateral, apex slightly acute, abaxial midvein stout. Lower sepal shortly navicular, limb 6-7 mm deep, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur ca. 2 × as long as limb; mouth vertical, tip acute. Upper petal cucullate, orbicular, apex obtuse; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 1 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular, small; distal lobes oblong-dolabriform, ca. 2 × as long as basal lobes; auricle small. Filaments compressed, linear; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary erect, fusiform. Capsule linear or subclavate, ca. 1.5 cm. Seeds few, brown, obovoid, compressed, ca. 3 mm, smooth. Fl. Jun-Jul.
