Characteristics

Plants 30-40 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, succulent, simple. Leaves alternate; petiole ca. 1 cm, without basal glands; leaf blade lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, 2.5-7.5 cm, lateral veins 5 or 6 pairs, base cuneate, margin crenate-serrate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 5-7-flowered; peduncles conspicuously overtopping leaves, ca. 10 cm. Pedicels ca. 1.8 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, ovate, small, 3-4 mm. Flowers blue-purple, ca. 2.5 cm deep, ca. 1.5 cm wide. Lateral sepals 2, obliquely ovate, 5-6 mm, 7-or 8-veined, apex acute. Lower sepal broadly saccate, abruptly narrowed into an incurved spur; spur ca. 2.5 cm, slender. Upper petal suborbicular, base cordate, 7-8 mm in diam.; lateral united petals shortly clawed, 2-lobed; basal lobes suborbicular, small; distal lobes dolabriform, one side retuse, acute; auricle blue-purple, suborbicular. Filaments linear, 3-4 mm; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary fusiform. Capsule linear, 1.5-2 cm. Fl. Aug.
