Characteristics

Creeping perennial, sparingly branched, glabrous; stems decumbent to erect, 30–40 cm. tall, rooting at the lower nodes.. Leaves spirally arranged; petiole 4–30 mm. long, slender; lamina ovate to rhombic-ovate, 1.8–6.5 cm. long, 1.6–4.3 cm. broad, subacute, the base subrounded to somewhat attenuate; lateral veins 3–5 pairs; margin crenate to crenate-serrate with several short (1–2 mm. long) fimbriae towards the base.. Inflorescence a 1–3-flowered axillary subumbellate raceme; flowers dark pinkish red with a whitish spur.. Peduncle 19–30 mm. long, erect.. Bracts 2–3, linear-lanceolate, 3–5 mm. long, acute.. Pedicels 18–30 mm. long, slender, becoming deflexed in fruit.. Lateral sepals ovate, 4–5 mm. long, 3 mm. broad, subacute, asymmetrical.. Lower sepal narrowly navicular, 10–11 mm. long, 3–4 mm. deep, abruptly constricted into a 50–60 mm. long, curved filiform spur which tapers gradually towards the tip.. Dorsal petal obcordate, 16–18 mm. long, 14–22 mm. broad, dorsally with a narrow crest.. Lateral united petals 20–22 mm. long; upper petal of each pair narrow-obcordate, 15–17 mm. long, 10–12 mm. broad, often slightly apiculate; lower petal asymmetrically obovate, 18–20 mm. long, 9–11 mm. broad, distally with a slight emargination along the inner margin..
