Erect annual 14–45 cm. tall; stems simple or moderately branched, mainly in the lower half, succulent and rather delicate, glabrous, pale green or reddish.. Leaves opposite, rarely ternate; petiole 0.8–4 cm. long, slender, glabrous; lamina ovate to ovate-elliptic or lanceolate-elliptic, 3.3–6.5 cm. long, 2.2–4.5 cm. broad, the base rounded to subtruncate or somewhat attenuate into the petiole, the apex acuminate, sparsely pubescent or glabrous above, glabrous beneath; lateral veins 4–5 pairs; margin serrate-crenate, rather coarse, the lowermost teeth generally filiform and 1–1.5 mm. long.. Flowers axillary, solitary or in pairs, pale pink or whitish with a white lower sepal and spur, the upper lateral petals with a conspicuous elongated magenta or purplish blotch.. Bracts linear, 1–2 mm. long, inconspicuous.. Pedicels very slender, 1.4–3 cm. long.. Lateral sepals narrowly ovate, 2–3 mm. long.. Lower sepal obliquely navicular, 6.5–7 mm. long, 4–5 mm. deep, somewhat constricted into a broad slightly curved spur, 2–2.5 mm. long.. Dorsal petal semi-cucullate, 7–7.5 mm. long, 7–8 mm. broad (when flattened).. Lateral united petals 14–17 mm. long, with a short 2–2.5 mm. long filiform appendage inserted opposite the sinus of the upper and lower lateral petals and extending backwards into the lower sepal; upper petal of each pair narrowly triangular, 7–9 mm. long, 3–4.5 mm. broad, obtuse; lower petal unevenly bilobed, 11–12 mm. long overall, the upper lobe suborbicular, 2–3.5 mm. long, 2–3.5 mm. broad, the lower lobe ligulate, broadening somewhat towards the base, 7–8 mm. long, 2–3 mm. broad..
