Characteristics

Plants annual, glabrous. Stem slender, branched. Leaves alternate; petiole 0.5-3 cm, slender, glands absent; leaf blade oblong or ovate-oblong, 3-5 × 2-2.5 cm, rigid, lateral veins 6 or 7 pairs, midvein fine, base rounded or cordate, margin crenate, teeth mucronulate, apex obtuse. Inflorescences shorter than leaves, 2-5-flowered; peduncles slender. Pedicels 5-10 mm, bracteate at middle; bracts persistent, orbicular, 3-4 mm wide, margin denticulate. Flowers yellow, ca. 1 cm wide. Lateral sepals 2, broadly ovate to orbicular, 6-8 mm, membranous, 4-8-veined, inequilateral, apex obtuse, mucronulate. Lower sepal funnelform, wholly curved; mouth subvertical, ca. 2 cm deep. Upper petal orbicular, apex obtuse, abaxial midvein thickened, cristate; lateral united petals not clawed, 1.5-1.7 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular or broadly oblong; distal lobes dolabriform, ca. 2 × as large as basal lobes, apex rounded; auricle inflexed. Filaments very short; anthers ovoid, apex acute. Ovary erect, fusiform. Capsule erect, narrowly elliptic, 1.5-2(-3) cm, both ends constricted. Seeds few, brown, oblong or obovoid, 4-4.5 mm, nearly smooth. Fl. Aug.
