Characteristics

Plants small, 5-10 cm tall, succulent, glabrous. Stem erect, terete, simple, long naked in lower part. Leaves alternate, crowded; petiole 2-4 cm, with 2 globose glands at apex; leaf blade ovate, 9-13.5 × 3-4.5 cm, lateral veins 8-12 pairs, base cuneate, margin crenate-serrate, teeth mucronulate, apex acute or obtuse. Peduncles absent. Pedicels 2-4 cm, not bracteate. Flowers solitary, pink-purple, yellow within, 3-5 cm wide. Lateral sepals 4; outer 2: ovate or ovate-orbicular, 1.2-1.4 × 1-1.4 cm, rigid, veins reticulate, apex cuspidate; inner 2: minute, oblong, ca. 1 mm, apex mucronulate. Lower sepal cup-shaped or deeply navicular, abruptly constricted into an erect or incurved spur; spur short, 0.8-1 cm, stout or subturgid; mouth vertical, 2-2.5 cm, tip acute. Upper petal cucullate, obovate-oblong or obcordate, 1.5-1.8 cm, apex recurved, deeply retuse, rostellate, abaxial midvein carinate below middle; lateral united petals broad; basal lobes broadly falciform-flabellate, 1.5-2.5 cm; distal lobes connate into orbicular, entire labellum 2-2.5 cm; auricle small, densely adnate. Filaments linear; anthers connate. Ovary slightly curved. Capsule clavate, ca. 2 cm. Seeds 5 or 6, red-brown, oblong, 3-3.5 mm, glabrous. Fl. May-Aug, fr. unknown.
