Characteristics

Plants annual, 20-60 cm tall. Stem robust, simple or branched, glabrous or subglabrous in lower part, densely or sparsely yellow-brown long hairy in upper part. Leaves alternate, shortly petiolate or upper leaves subsessile; petiole 3-7 mm, basally glandular; leaf blade ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 4-10 × 2.5-4 cm, membranous, abaxially or only veins sparsely pubescent, setose between teeth, adaxially sparsely strigose, lateral veins 7-9 pairs, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin slightly coarsely crenate, apex acuminate, rarely caudate-acuminate. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, (1 or)2-5-flowered; peduncles shorter than leaves, slender, sparsely pubescent or subglabrous. Pedicels 1-1.2 cm, bracteate at base; bracts ovate-lanceolate, 3-5 mm, apex acuminate. Flowers spreading, yellowish or white, throat yellow, red-brown spotted, to 2.8 cm. Lateral sepals 2, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, ca. 5 mm, apex mucronulate. Lower sepal saccate-funnelform, limb 1.5-1.8 cm deep, abruptly narrowed into a curved, short spur. Upper petal orbicular, apex curved cuspidate, abaxial midvein not thickened; lateral united petals not clawed; basal lobes suborbicular; distal lobes dolabriform. Anthers obtuse. Capsule linear, ca. 2.5 cm. Fl. Jun-Sep.
