Low scrambling or ± erect perennial up to 1.5 m. tall, but usually less; stems moderately to much branched, often rooting at the lower nodes, densely pubescent to subglabrous towards the apex, glabrescent below, reddish or green.. Leaves spirally arranged, deep green above, greyish green beneath; petiole (0.7–)1–4 cm. long, pubescent or glabrous; lamina ovate, ovate-oblong or elliptic, 1.7–11 cm. long, 1.3–6.2 cm. broad, the apex acute or shortly acuminate, sparsely to moderately pubescent on both surfaces, more densely so on the younger leaves; lateral veins (3–)4–8 pairs; margin serrate to crenate or crenate-dentate, usually with a few 1–2 mm. long fimbriae towards the base..
