Decumbent, rather sprawling perennial; stems up to 90 cm. long, simple or moderately branched, pubescent above but glabrescent below, pale green, rooting at the lower nodes.. Leaves spirally arranged; petiole 2–5.5 cm. long, slender, finely pubescent; lamina broadly-ovate to oblong-lanceolate, 4.5–7.5 cm. long, 3.5–5 cm. broad, apex somewhat acuminate, scattered pubescent above, more densely so beneath on the midrib and lateral veins; lateral veins 5–6 pairs; margin shallowly crenate with 1–2, ± 1 mm. long, fimbriae towards the base of the lamina.. Flowers solitary, epedunculate, bright scarlet, often borne on short lateral branches well below the apex of the main shoot.. Bracts linear-lanceolate, 1–2 mm. long, inconspicuous.. Pedicels 4–5.5 cm. long, slender, finely pubescent.. Lateral sepals linear-lanceolate, ± 3.5 mm. long, acute, pubescent.. Lower sepal narrowly bucciniform, 1.2–1.3 cm. long, gradually tapering into the spur, 3–3.5 cm. long overall, the tip incurved, scattered pubescent throughout.. Dorsal petal cucullate, ± 13 mm. long and 10 mm. broad, dorsally with a narrow crest, the crest sparsely pubescent, more densely so towards the base.. Lateral united petals ± 5 mm. long, glabrous; upper petal broadly-ovate to ovate-triangular, 8 mm. long and 7 mm. broad, entire; lower petal parabolic, ± 10 mm. long and 6 mm. broad..
