Plants annual, 40-100 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, many branched in upper part. Leaves alternate, petiolate in lower part of stem, sessile in upper part of stem; leaf blade pale green abaxially, gray-green adaxially, ovate or ovate-orbicular, 2-4 × 1.5-5 cm, lateral veins 6 or 7 pairs, base rounded, truncate, or cordate, margin undulate or obtusely crenate, apex obtuse. Inflorescences axillary, 1-3-flowered; peduncles 1.4-1.6 cm. Pedicels 6-7 mm, slender, bracteate at middle; bracts subulate. Flowers yellow, small, to 2 cm deep, ca. 1 cm wide. Lateral sepals 2, yellow, turning brown when dry, ovate-orbicular, small, 2-3 × ca. 2 mm. Lower sepal salver-shaped, ca. 2 cm, gradually narrowed into spur; spur ca. 2 cm, longer than limb, slender, apex incurved; mouth subvertical, obtuse. Upper petal suborbicular, 3-5 mm, base truncate, apex rounded, abaxial midvein carinate, green; lateral united petals ± clawed, ca. 1.2 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes small; distal lobes dolabriform, large, apically retuse; auricle inflexed, narrow. Filaments short, 1-1.5 mm; anthers acute. Capsule nearly black, fusiform, 1.5-1.8 cm. Fl. and fr. Aug-Sep.
