Characteristics

Plants annual, ca. 60 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect, branched. Leaves alternate, petiolate in lower leaves, subsessile in upper ones; petiole 1-3 cm; leaf blade ovate-lanceolate, 7-10 × 2.5-3.5 cm, membranous, lateral veins 5 or 6 pairs, fine, base acute, margin crenate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate or caudate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 1-flowered; peduncles ca. 1 cm. Pedicels bracteate at middle; bracts ovate, apex acute. Lateral sepals 2, pale green, orbicular, 1.2-1.5 cm in diam., abaxial midvein with a small sac at base. Lower sepal saccate, ca. 3 cm, narrowed into an incurved spur; spur short, 2-lobed; mouth subvertical, tip acute or acuminate. Upper petal orbicular, abaxial midvein large, cristate; lateral united petals broadly clawed, ca. 2.8 cm, 2-lobed; lobes with a filamentous long hair at apex; basal lobes densely purple spotted; distal lobes purple striate; auricle rounded. Filaments linear, short; anthers obtuse. Ovary erect, linear. Capsule unknown. Fl. Aug-Sep.
