Characteristics

Plants glabrous. Stem erect; branches and branchlets ascending. Leaves alternate; petiole 3-5 cm, stout; leaf blade ovate, 6-10 cm, membranous, often with stipitate glands at basal margin, lateral veins 5-7 pairs, fine, bases of lower and middle leaves cuneate or narrowly cuneate, attenuate into petiole, base of upper ones rounded, margin coarsely crenate-serrate, apex caudate-acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 2-flowered; peduncles 3-4 cm. Pedicels very short, bracteate at middle. Flowers spreading, large, ca. 4 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, ovate, ca. 1.4 cm, base cordate, apex aristate-acuminate, abaxial midvein thickened, carinate below middle. Lower sepal broadly funnelform, ca. 2.5 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur; spur shorter than limb, 2-lobed; mouth subvertical, ca. 2.5 cm, tip acuminate. Upper petal orbicular, large, ca. 2.2 cm, cucullate, base truncate, apex recurved-rostellate, abaxial midvein slightly thickened; lateral united petals broadly shortly clawed, ca. 3 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes small, ovate, apex acuminate, with a long filamentous hair; distal lobes lunar, large, apex obtuse; auricle inflexed, long. Filaments linear, ca. 5 mm; anthers obtuse. Ovary ovoid. Capsule unknown. Fl. Jul-Aug.
