Characteristics

Plants small, ca. 20 cm tall. Stem erect, slender, simple, basally long naked. Leaves few, alternate; petiole 5-10 mm; leaf blade gray-white abaxially, dark green adaxially, ovate, abaxially shortly strigose, adaxially glabrous, lateral veins 4 or 5 pairs, base acute, gradually attenuate into petiole, margin serrate, teeth mucronulate, apex subacute. Inflorescences axillary, 1-flowered; peduncles erect, shorter than leaves. Pedicels with 2 bracts at middle. Flowers yellow, large, 3-5 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, orbicular, ca. 4 mm in diam., 5-7-veined, inequilateral. Lower sepal saccate, ca. 2 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an involute, short spur; mouth suboblique, ca. 2.5 cm wide, tip acute. Upper petal orbicular, ca. 1.2 cm in diam., abaxial midvein broadly cristate at middle; lateral united petals ± clawed, ca. 3 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes orbicular, large; distal lobes dolabriform or obovate-oblong, smaller, apex rounded; auricle present, small. Filaments short; anthers acute. Ovary curved. Capsule (immature) curved, oblong. Fl. and fr. Jul-Aug.
