Characteristics

Perennial herb with trailing stems to 1 m long. Stems prostrate, slender, many-branched, mat-forming, terete or flattened, strigose, arising from a woody tuberous rootstock. Stipules 2-4 mm long, narrowly lanceolate-subulate, ± spreading. Leaves pinnately 7-11-foliolate; leaf axis (4)5-22 mm long, including petiole of 1-3(4) mm, stipels absent; terminal leaflet 4-10(13) x 1.5-4(5) mm, obovate to oblanceolate, drying greenish-yellow, densely strigose on both surfaces with hairs at 45° to midrib above, sometimes glabrescent above. Raceme 2.5-6 cm long, including peduncle of 6-20 mm; bracts 1-2 mm long, lanceolate; pedicels 0.5-1 mm long. Calyx 3-4(5) mm long, densely strigose to subsericeous; lobes lanceolate-acuminate, 3-4 times as long as tube. Keel apex acute. Stamens 3-3.5 mm long, equal or shorter than calyx. Pod 5-7 x 1-2 mm, reflexed, ± terete, straight, strigose; endocarp with large whitish dots. Seeds 3-7, 0.6-1.2 x 0.6-1 mm, squarish, deeply pitted, tuberculate, pale orange-brown.
