Characteristics

Closely related to I. garckeana, from which it differs in its more slender cylindrical or only very slightly 3-angled stems, in the indumentum of the stems, leaf-rhachides and leaf-midribs being appressed and that of the calyx being usually white (except in some Uganda specimens). Leaflets rarely more than 7 in number and usually wider in proportion to their length, and more obtuse than those of I. garckeana.
