Indigofera burchellii Dc.

Prostrate, cushion-forming or sprawling suffrutex; rootstock woody, branches many; stems angular, densely grey-hoary. Stipules 1-2(3) mm long, triangular-lanceolate, decurrent on stems. Leaves digitately 5-7-foliolate, arranged fan-like at apex of petioles 1-14 mm long. Terminal leaflet 2-11 x 1.0-4.5 mm, obovate to oblanceolate, densely to sparsely strigose above and below. Inflorescences of 20-70 mm long, distantly 5-10(15)-flowered racemes; peduncle 10-50 mm long; pedicels 0.5-1.5 mm long. Flowers 6.5-8.0 mm long, pink to red; calyx 2.0-3.0(3.5) mm long, grey-hoary strigillose; lobes narrowly triangular, shorter than to ± equalling tube; standard partially strigillose along midrib and apex. Stamens 5-6 mm long. Ovary densely strigose. Flowering time Oct.-Jan. Pod 10-18 x 2.0-2.5 mm.
