Characteristics

Small shrub or rounded bushy suffrutex 0.2-0.5 m tall. Stems decumbent, many-branched, woody below with grey-brown bark; densely pubescent to velutinous with spreading whitish hairs above, sometimes mixed with dark setose hairs; pearl bodies often present. Stipules 3-9 mm long, linear-attenuate to setaceous. Leaves pinnately (7)9-23-foliolate; leaf axis 20-60 mm long, with dense clusters of dark pearl bodies at base of petiole and between leaflets; petiole of 1-3 mm, stipels mostly absent; terminal leaflet 5-12 x 3-7 mm, elliptic to ± obovate, glabrous above, appressed to spreading pubescent or pilose beneath. Raceme 3-7(11) cm long, including peduncle of 3-8(28) mm; bracts 3-8 mm long, subulate-filiform; pedicels 0.5-1.5 mm long. Calyx 4-5(6) mm long, sericeous with spreading whitish and sometimes dark hairs; lobes subulate-filiform, 2-5 times as long as tube. Corolla pink, back of standard whitish pubescent to subsericeous; keel apex ± apiculate, acute to obtuse with narrow band of spreading whitish hairs along distal midline. Stamens (5)6-7 mm long; anthers with scattered hairs. Pod 9-13 x 2-3 mm, ± spreading, oblong, ± densely whitish pilose, or subhirsute with brownish hairs; endocarp densely spotted with tannin vescicles. Seeds 2-4, 1.5-2.5 x 1.4-1.6 mm, ± cuboid to oblong, greenish-brown, minutely pitted.
