Characteristics

Woody herb, shrublet or shrub, up to 2 m high. Stems ribbed, sparsely strigose, brown to silvery grey, exfoliating longitudinally. Leaves 1-3-foliolate, subfleshy to leathery, glaucous; petioles 1-8(10) mm long. Terminal leaflet 4-22 x 1-17 mm, oblanceolate to linear-elliptic, minutely hairy, sparsely strigose below, apex rounded or emarginate. Inflorescences of 4-50 mm long racemes, subsessile, ± equalling (sometimes longer than) the leaves, 5-50-flowered; pedicels 1-3(5) mm long. Flowers pink to mauve; calyx 1.5-2.0(3.0) mm long, strigose, lobes triangular, ± shorter than tube; standard softly white pubescent dorsally. Stamens (5.0)5.5-8.0 mm long. Ovary densely strigose. Flowering time July-May. Pod 22-30 x 2-4 mm, dark brown, strigose.
