Characteristics

Semi-prostrate, slender suffrutex, trailing up to 1 m long (up to 0.3 m high), manystemmed from a woody rootstock, angular, strigose to glabrous. Stipules 4-19 x 1.5-7.5 mm, obliquely ovate-acuminate, base cordate on leaf-opposed side. Leaves with petioles (2.5)6.0-40.0 mm long, channelled. Terminal leaflet (6)10-42 x (2)3-20 mm, elliptic or obovate, apex obtuse to acute; ± densely appressed strigose on both surfaces. Inflorescences of 40-300 mm long, (20)40-60(80)-flowered racemes; peduncle 20-240 mm long; pedicels 0.5-1.5 mm long. Flowers 5.5-6.5 mm long, brick-red; calyx 1.5-2.5 mm long, sparsely to densely strigose; lobes triangular to lanceolate, ± equalling to twice tube length; standard glabrous dorsally; keel apex obtuse. Stamens 3.5-5.0 mm long. Flowering time Sept.-Feb. Pod 18-24 x 1.5 mm.
