Characteristics

Multi-stemmed suffrutex, up to 0.8 m high, or single-stemmed subshrub, up to 1.5 m high; rootstock woody, stems densely grey villous-tomentose to crisped pubescent, with dark brown hairs and scattered pearl bodies. Stipules 2-7 mm long, subulate-setaceous. Leaves pinnately (5)7-15(17)-foliolate, rachis 6-40 mm long; petioles 1-4 mm long. Terminal leaflet (4)6-20 x (1)2-6 mm, ± linear-oblong to oblanceolate, apex ± acute; indumentum on both surfaces as for stems. Inflorescences of (15)25-150(180) mm long, ± densely (6)20-100-flowered racemes; peduncle 10-60 mm long; pedicels (2.5)3.0-7.0 mm long. Flowers 10-13 mm long, crimson-red; calyx (2.5)3.0-6.0 mm long, densely grey-white-tomentose, lobes triangular, ± equalling to 2(3)x tube length; standard dorsal surface densely ferruginous to dark brown strigose; keel apex obtuse. Stamens 9-12 mm long. Flowering time Oct.-Mar. Pod 18-40 x 2.5-3.0 mm.
