Characteristics

Somewhat delicate scandent suffrutex, up to 0.9 m high; branches many, slender, from a woody rootstock; stems angular, glabrous to strigose. Stipules 3-8 mm long, filiform-setaceous. Leaves: petioles 5-22 mm long. Terminal leaflet 4-15 x 2.5-10.0 mm, broadly obovate to oblanceolate, glabrous above, sparsely strigose below, apex rounded to truncate, apical region often subserrate or multi-apiculate. Inflorescences of 25-130 mm long, (10)15-30-flowered racemes; pedicels 0.5-1.5 mm long. Flowers 6.5-8.0 mm long, orange-red; calyx 2-3 mm long, sparsely strigose, lobes triangular to lanceolate, ± equalling to twice tube length; standard crisped white-pubescent dorsally; keel apex rostrate. Stamens 4.5-6.5 mm long. Ovary strigose. Flowering time June-Apr. Pod 14-25 x 2.0-2.5 mm.
