Characteristics

Prostrate perennial herb to 1.2 m long. Stems radiating from a woody rootstock, densely pubescent to velutinous with unequally biramous whitish or greenish-yellow hairs. Stipules 4-8(11) mm long, narrowly triangular to lanceolate-attenuate, persistent, ± spreading. Leaves pinnately 1-3-foliolate, leaflets mostly 2, 1 terminal and 1 lateral; leaf axis 4-14 mm long, including petiole of 0-5 mm, stipels absent; terminal leaflet (12)14-50(70) x (8)9-24(35) mm, broadly oblong-elliptic, suborbicular or obovate, densely sericeous to tomentose above and beneath, secondary venation prominent beneath. Raceme 2-6.5(9) cm long, including peduncle of 3-17(21) mm; bracts 2-3 mm long, subulate; pedicels 1-1.5 mm long. Calyx 2.5-4 mm long, sericeous; lobes subidate-setaceous, 3-4 times as long as tube. Keel apex ± acute or apiculate. Stamens 2-2.5 mm long. Pod 6-12 x 1-1.5 mm, spreading to reflexed, ± constricted at intervals, densely sericeous or pilose-sericeous, distal part sterile, tapering to upcurved beak. Seeds (1)2-3, 1.5-2 x 1-1.5 mm, oblong to globular, greenish, mottled.
