Characteristics

Apparently perennial. Stems erect, over 40 cm high, 3-4 mm thick, with some short weak ascending branches at the middle or upper part, thinly adpressed-pubescent with very minute centrally fixed hairs, dark brown. Leaves 13-30 mm long; leaflets 5-9, the lateral opposite in 2-4 pairs, 7-14 mm long, 4-9 mm broad, flat, elliptic or obovate, obtusely rounded at the apex, apiculate, glabrous above, and often appearing glabrous on the undersurface, but usually (under a strong lens) found to be thinly sprinkled with minute scattered adpressed hairs. Racemes 5-11 cm long, usually 3-4 x 5 times as long as the leaves, with the peduncle below the lowest scar of fallen flowers much longer than the leaves. Pedicels 2-4 mm long. Calyx-lobes 1 x 5-2 mm long. Corolla 5 mm long, apparently pink or purple; standard adpressed-pubescent with brown hairs on the back. Pods not seen.
