Characteristics

Virgate, 2-8-stemmed suffrutex, 0.3-1.0 m high; stems erect, often unbranched, woody below, angular, ± densely appressed, often subcanescent strigose, scattered with pearl bodies. Stipules 0.5-1.0 mm long, subulate. Leaves pinnately 7-13-foliolate, rachis 7-20 mm long, leaflet pairs mostly (1)2-4 mm or more apart; petioles 0.5-2.0 mm long. Terminal leaflet 5-22 x 1-4 mm, ± oblanceolate to narrowly oblong-elliptic, apex ± rounded; both surfaces sparsely appressed strigose, paler green above, more densely and coarsely strigose beneath. Inflorescences of 7-20(25) mm long, laxly (5)10-25-flowered racemes; peduncle 2-10 mm long; pedicels 3.0-7.5 mm long. Flowers 4-6 mm long, red; calyx 2-3 mm long, strigose; lobes lanceolate-subulate, 1.5-2.5x tube length; standard densely ferruginous to dark brown strigose dorsally; keel apex obtuse. Stamens 3-4 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-Mar. Pod 12-30 x 1.5-2.5 mm.
