Prostrate, sometimes mat-forming annual herb to 40 cm tall. Stems yellowish-green, many-branched, angular at first, ribbed, becoming terete below, arising from a taproot; densely to sparsely whitish strigose with appressed ± equally biramous hairs. Stipules 3-7 mm long, linear-attenuate, ± erect. Leaves pinnately 3-7-foliolate; leaf axis 1-3(4) cm long including petiole of (4)5-16 mm, rachis usually prolonged 1-11 mm beyond lateral leaflets; stipels 0.5-1 mm long, falling early; terminal leaflet 8-30(35) x 3-11 mm, lanceolate to narrowly elliptic or oblong, apex rounded to obtuse, the laterals usually smaller; lamina strigose with appressed, ± equally biramous hairs on both surfaces, more coarsely and densely strigose beneath with hairs sometimes spreading. Raceme 2-12 cm long, including peduncle of (5)10-35 mm; bracts 1-1.5 mm long, falling early; pedicels 0.5-lmm long. Calyx 3-5(5.5) mm long, strigose; tube c. 0.7 mm long, lobes ± setaceous, much longer than tube. Corolla 6-6.5 mm long, red-pink, back of standard whitish strigose; keel whitish strigose along distal margin, apex obtuse. Stamens (4.5)5-6 mm long, exceeding or ± equal to calyx. Style 3-4 mm long, bending upwards to ± erect in distal third. Pod 8-16 x 2.3-2.7 mm, reflexed, ± straight or slightly curved, flat with raised reticulation of veins, swellings over each seed separate, rounded; densely ± spreading strigose; style-base persistent forming an erect beak; endocarp without tannin deposits. Seeds 3-8, orange, flattened squarish, c. 1.5 x 1.5 mm.
