Characteristics

Stems several from a perennial rootstock, herbaceous, 30-40 cm high, brown, minutely adpressed-pubescent and rough from minute stalked glands, which are occasionally nearly absent. Leaves 1.5-3 cm long; leaflets 3-11 (mostly 7-9), the lateral opposite in 1-4 pairs, 10-15 mm long, 2-3.5 mm broad, linear-cuneate, mucronate, folded, adpressed-pubescent on both sides and often glandular at the apex on the edges and on the midrib beneath. Racemes 2-8 cm long equalling to much longer than the leaves, with the peduncle below the lowest scar of fallen flowers shorter than the leaves. Pedicels 1.5-2 mm long. Calyx-lobes 3.5-5 mm long, more than half as long as the corolla, subulate, glandular. Corolla 6 mm long, purple; standard pubescent with whitish hairs on the back.
