Characteristics

Bushy perennial herb ± 50 cm. tall with a large taproot, villous throughout, the hairs up to 2 mm. long.. Leaves (3–)5-foliolate; stipules asymmetrically lanceolate-acuminate, up to 15 mm. long and 4 mm. wide; rhachis up to 2 cm. long, including a petiole of up to 6 mm., prolonged up to 6 mm. beyond the lateral leaflets; leaflets oblong-lanceolate, the terminal much larger than the lateral, up to 18 mm. long and 7 mm. wide, acute.. Racemes 2–3-flowered, in the axils of normal or reduced leaves, about as long as their stipules.. Calyx ± 4.5 mm. long, divided almost to the base into linear attenuate lobes, which are tipped by minute glands (± 0.1 mm. in diameter), as may be the stipules and leaflets near the flowers.. Filaments ± 3.5 mm. long.. Pod erect, subcylindrical, 5–6 mm. long, pubescent, 2–3-seeded.
