Perennial herb with a woody rootstock, the branches usually procumbent but sometimes more or less erect, up to 50 cm. long, more or less strigose, the hairs appressed or, sometimes, spreading at the tips.. Stipules brownish, more or less pilose, triangular at the base and ± attenuate, 2–7 mm. long; rhachis up to 15(–20) mm. long, including a petiole of rarely over 1 mm., usually not prolonged beyond the lateral leaflets; leaflets 5–11, narrowly cuneate-oblong or oblanceolate, up to 15 mm. long and 5 mm. wide, appressed strigose on both surfaces, red-black processes often present in their axils.. Racemes 3–15-flowered; peduncle sparingly strigose or glabrescent, 1.2–6 cm. long; bracts linear, up to 4 mm. long; pedicels pubescent, 1–1.5 mm. long.. Calyx strigose; tube 1 mm.; lobes subulate, 1–3 mm. long.. Corolla puberulent outside.. Stamens 6–7 mm. long.. Pods rather tetragonal, 15–30 mm. long, ± 2 mm. wide and 1.7 mm. thick, sparsely strigulose, 6–13-seeded; endocarp spotted.. Seeds pitted.
