Characteristics

Prostrate, decumbent or erect, multi-stemmed suffrutex, 0.2-1.0 m high; rootstock woody, stems either annual and herbaceous or woody below, appressed strigose, scattered with pearl bodies. Stipules 0.5-2.5 mm long, subulate-setaceous. Leaves pinnately 3-11-foliolate, rachis 1.5-13 mm long, leaflet pairs mostly 1.0-2.5 mm apart; petioles 0.5-2.5 mm long, dark pearl bodies at leaf base. Terminal leaflet 4-11(17) x 0.5-3.5 mm, oblanceolate to narrowly oblong-elliptic, apex acute; both surfaces strigose, paler green above, more densely appressed strigose beneath. Inflorescences of 0.1-10.0(-32.0 outside EC) mm long, (1)2-10(12)-flowered racemes; peduncle slender, 0.5-4.0(8.0) mm long; pedicels 2-6 mm long. Flowers 5-6 mm long, carmine-red to magenta; calyx 2.0-3.5 mm long, strigose; lobes narrowly lanceolate-subulate, ± equalling to 3x tube length; standard ferruginous to dark brown strigose dorsally; keel apex acute, often ± rostrate. Stamens 3-4 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-Jan. Pod 11-17 x 1.5-2.0 mm.
