Characteristics

Woody subshrub, 0.2-1.5 m high, stems many-branched, angular, ± densely appressed strigose (often with dark brown to blackish hairs), pearl bodies present. Stipules 0.5-2.0(2.5) mm long, filiform. Leaves pinnately 9-19-foliolate, rachis 1.5-40.0 mm long; petioles 1.0-2.5 mm long. Terminal leaflet (5)6-15 x 2-5 mm, oblanceolate to oblong-elliptic, apex rounded; glabrous, often paler green above, appressed strigose beneath. Inflorescences of 20-100 mm long, ± densely (15)25-60-flowered racemes; peduncle 12-35 mm long; pedicels 3-6 mm long. Flowers 4.0-4.5 mm long, red; calyx 1.5-2.0(2.5) mm long, ± densely strigose; lobes lanceolate to subulate, up to 3x tube length; standard densely ferruginous to dark brown strigose dorsally; keel apex obtuse. Stamens 3-4 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-Mar. Pod 16-28 x 1.5-2.5 mm.
